This is my Red Gyarados gijinka. I love making Pokemon gijinkas, and Gyarados is one of my favorite water types! I wasn’t sure how making a gijinka of a sea serpent looking Pokemon would end, but I’m so happy with the result!

The costume was debuted at Con+Alt+Delete in Chicago December 2014, where I won Best In Show at the Masquerade with my friend who was cosplaying a nearly identical Blue Gyarados (which was also made by me)

I made the armor and prop with Worbla and various kinds of foam, and I made all of my fins detachable for easy travel. The tail was by far the most difficult to make. I made three different versions before I was satisfied with it.
