 Star Wars: The Force Awakens Photographer: Joseph Killeen 
Making Rey’s costume was fun, but the best part by far was the photoshoot. I took advantage of the alien-desert structures in Vasquez Rocks State Park (CA). It’s always filled with hikers climbing around the rocks, and a few of them gave us advice on what areas we should use for photos. One of the hikers even asked if it was blasphemous to take Star Wars photos in a location that Star Trek used to film. Rey is still the most complex build that I’ve done. I’ve never made a prop that big before, and had to learn how to dye clothing and work with leather for her shirt, pants, wrap, and unique belt. I also tore out an unfortunate amount of hair trying to do her triple buns by myself, before caving and asking for a friend’s help. Cosplayer: Goodkilleenfun
