Malon from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

When Ocarina of Time first came out my brother and I could not get enough of the game! When we got to Lon Lon Ranch, I just adored Malon and Epona to death! She was so cutesy and I loved Epona's song. Plus she's a farmgirl so since I grew up in a farming community I felt it was only natural for me to like her!

I did not have to travel far to find this wonderful location for my Malon cosplay. These photos were taken in my backyard. We live on a farm and since it's Fall, everything is turning a woderful harvest hues of orange, yellow and red.

The costume was all made by me. I am most proud of the apron due to not having any applique or embroidery experience whatsoever before starting this project. The apron is made of suede with dark brown cotton as the designs, satin stitched around the edges. The skirt is cotton and the shirt is linen. I wanted to go with natural and light fabrics, ones you'd imagined used by farmers. The brooch is made with light weight sculpey and painted with gold spray paint and then a layer of antique gold acrylic paint on top of that to give it a weathered look.

I got into cosplay when I was in high school and I was searching for pictures of characters online and I came across what I thought were live action films of the games I was looking for. I later found out it was the art of cosplay. I just had to take part! So 4 years later when I was in college and had a bit of my own money I started putting together my first costume and I've never looked back! I've been sewing my own for about 3 years now.
