How To Train Your Dragon See more images of Astrid I have always loved dragons, so when I saw How To Train Your Dragon, it instantly became one of my faves. That being said, as soon as I saw Astrid, I knew I had to cosplay her. Some parts of this costume were a bit more challenging than I expected. The skirt was probably the most difficult part. It was made of white vinyl which I painted with many layers of brown. The skulls are sculpey. The spikes are actually paperstock cones which I covered with glue/tissue paper and filled with hot glue. This way the spikes were super light and didn't weigh down my skirt. The shoulder armor is made of craft foam and sculpey spikes and skulls. The ax is a shovel handle and insulation foam. I've worn this costume to quite a few cons, including Youmacon. This is probably my most glomped costume. I never realized how many people love this movie! I have been making costumes since 2006 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon! Cosplayer: Melima Follow us on Twitter @DailyCosplay or Facebook for the latest news.
