Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Photographer: Richi Style See more images of Yoko. This is my Yoko Cosplay from Gurren Lagann. The flames on the top were hand painted, and the gun was a team effort between Misa Lynn of Cosplay Love Pro, Richi Style, and myself. The gun is mainly made of wood and PVC pipe. This shot was taken by Richi Style on my school campus. I have only worn this Cosplay to New York Comic Con 2013 so far, but I hope to wear it to many more. I got into Cosplay because of Sailor Moon. When I was about ten I made a Sailor Jupiter outfit that consisted of a Forever 21 skirt, a tanktop, and paper accessories for halloween. While I got a lot of recognition, I still wasn't happy with how it turned out. A couple of years passed and I began to look up Sailor Moon "costumes" online. I found that most of the costume listings on ebay had the word "Cosplay" in them... I wondered.. what is this "Cosplay" I asked my friend about it and she explained everything... and when I turned 14 I ordered my first Cosplay. It was a Sailor Moon school uniform that my parents had let me order on ebay for my birthday. It was perfect. My best friend took me to New York Anime Festival in 2009 as my first con. Little did I know that that convention would change my life. Over the years I have traveled to many cons along the east coast. I have met many friends through Cosplay, as well as my boyfriend, Richi Style. While I have come a long way as a Cosplayer, I am still very very far from perfect. Only recently have I begun to try to make my own Cosplays, and all I can say is when one piece is done, it is so rewarding. When my progress shots get positive feedback it gives me the motivation and energy to keep on working. Cosplay has now taken over my life. This particular Cosplay is actually a remake. I was so unhappy with my former Yoko Cosplay, I decided to work even harder to make a new one. I feel like I am improving day by day as I work towards making new Cosplays. This Yoko cosplay scored first place in the Go Go Curry Cosplay Contest of 2013. Cosplayer: ChibiNeko Cosplay
