Love Live! School Idol Festival
Eri Ayase from Love Live is a character that didn’t appeal to me all that much in the beginning. I liked her design and outfits so I wanted to cosplay her. When I’m at this point I concern myself with the character more and try to find some points to my liking. Surprisingly Eri has a lot in common with me! I just love how caring she is and kind of acts like a mother/supervisor for the rest. Also that she’s afraid of the dark and ghosts is just adorable. From then on I’ve cosplayed lots of versions from her like Natsuiro egao and Mogyutto.
The Café Maid Version from the Love Live School Idol Festival game is a costume I have wanted to make for a long time. Since I saw the design for the first time I thought I have to make this work somehow!
Concerning the procedure of sewing this I was really insecure. Could I really pull it off? I had to do several things I wasn’t used to here: Dying fabric (the chessboard one), kind of making my own lace (the golden one at the waist), making a collar, making the microphone (and I’m not good with props and of course my eternal nemesis making gloves...
So in the end it I managed to finish all of this (I still don’t know how) and I’ve been really proud of myself ever since!
On the Convention (Animagic 2015 in Bonn, Germany) I received an amazing feedback! Everyone was so excited to see my costume (especially friends who knew the series and character) and I heard the phrase ’I would love to do this version too sometimes in the future!’ many times and it made me happy since I also love to look at other cosplayer’s great works.
So in the end I’ve been afraid of this costume for no reason and hope to be able to create some things I’m not used to in the future, too!
