Valkyrja Cosplay as Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail

This photoshoot was a lot of fun. Last fall, XWicked Games and I went to Saint Helen’s Island in Montreal city and found this gorgeous location that was almost empty, making it way more easier to shoot for cosplay.

I am cosplaying as Erza Scarlet from Fairy tail, in her Heart Kreuz 2 armor. The costume was a lot of fun to make! I commissionned my skirt by my mom years ago and since all of her heart kreuz armors all have the same base, I figured I could just reuse it! I made all of the rest! The armor itself is made out of Worbla arts that I primed, sanded with a filer primer and painted with acrylics. I am known to build my pieces from foam only including details, which could be very time consuming at times, and THEN I cover the finished pieces with worbla to make them more sturdy, more resistant. Making armor this way is less expensive than only using worbla AND I also love how it makes your pieces much more light!

All of the straps and belts on the costume are made with real 5-6 oz leather that I made myself. Most of them are closed with snaps while the waist belt is closed with velcro in the back. I wanted to make sure that it stays pretty in the front.

The sword is a piece I want to redo completely even if I liked it before. The blade is thick cardboard, the handle is pvc pipe while the guard and details are all eva or craft foam. The complete sword was covered up with Worbla black arts, then primed and sanded before painting with acrylics.

For the boots, I bought a thigh high black boots pair that I edited to create the cuffs.

Overall, the project wasen’t too hard to make since I’ve already done 2 other armors that were almost identical to this one. BUT I still struggled a lot with fixing the breastplace to the belly piece. I wanted to have a certain movement and figuring that out was very hard while the execution took me barely any time.

Erza, is a lot like me. We are 2 woman with very intense personalities, that says what they think very easily and that doesn’t have much filter. We protect our friends with all we have and we both hide a fragile side of ourselves deep within. I love her mostly because she is such a strong woman and because we have a lot in common.

As for me, I’m a cosplayer that started back in 2012. I’ve done a good couple of costumes since but I can easily tell you that people love my Erza, Zelda and Lara Croft cosplays the best. I got more popular because of my multiple Erza cosplays, but slowly others started to follow me for other cosplays.
