Kratos, the God of War is a cult character - we both love the God of War Video Games and wanted to bring our fave character to life together.

The costume is a complex build combining a lot of different techniques such as leather crafting (everything is real leather) and foam smithing. With all props and costume it was a project of over 6 months and over 1000 hours of work.

For me as the costumer the most difficult part to create were the Blades of Chaos. We chose a high tier in game model with a whole lot of details. I combined foam smithing and hand sculpting with worbla to achieve the overall detailed patterns and effects.

Additionally my man, who wears the cosplay grew his beard for 7 months and shaved his head to make everything look as real as possible. Not talking about a whole lot of gym time, too.

We debuted the costume at EpicCon in Munster, Germany and the fellow attendees were enthusiastic about Marcel being Kratos. People were shouting "BOI!" a lot!

I started making costumes back in 2002, Marcel aka Kratos joined me 2 years ago and Kratos is only his third cosplay.
