Airship Camille This is the Airship Camille, my "personal dirigible". It is constructed from bamboo, wire, willow sticks, shrink-wrap plastic and paper; it's really quite light to wear, but it does tend to hold my back in a particular position. It does generally work better as an outdoor prop than an indoor one -- indoors you have to worry about avoiding low doorframes and light fixtures! I originally built Camille in 2010 as a Masquerade competition entry for a local science fiction convention, Arisia, and since then she's appeared at several area steampunk events. For a while she was even on display during the "Steampunk: Form and Function" exhibit at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation in Waltham, MA. This particular photo was taken at the 2012 Watch City Festival, which is a steampunk festival organized by the CRMII as a fundraiser. I have a detailed description of how the airship was built here: Creating the Airship Camille I have been going to science fiction conventions and making costumes for years. The thing I find particularly fun about steampunk is that there's no one "right" way to do it, leading to an enormous amount of creativity in costuming and prop-making. Daily Cosplay is a showcase for cosplayers to display their work and fans from around the world to see the most fantastic costumes and characters from the realms of anime, manga, gaming, fantasy, and science fiction. Every day Daily Cosplay will feature a different costume. The selections will reflect the whole spectrum of the art of cosplay, from glamorous beauty to heavy mecha, from anime to steampunk mashups. Aliens, wizards, pirates, robots, elves, superheroes, demons, cyborgs, vampires; we serve all kinds here. To be featured on Daily Cosplay just fill out the entry form and provide two or more photos.
